Relax & Enjoy

We love Midsummer House Cambridge, the riverside setting, the common, the wandering cows, the walled garden with its herbs and Midsummer House’s signature apple trees, the sun terrace, the reception lounge, the main dining area and opulent private dining room. Everything adds up to the Midsummer House experience...and then the food!

It is a genuine thrill that people seek out Midsummer House and everyone has their part to play in making a visit memorable. It starts with a warm welcome, continues with the relaxed ambience and an informal service style that we hope is delivered with a lightness of touch that keeps the mood high on enjoyment. Food is obviously central to what we do, but the atmosphere and the team at Midsummer House add something special.

A few things are absent – pretention, stuffiness and starchy service – we prefer a convivial, relaxed and professional atmosphere and a real desire for you to leave replete in every sense.

Food Philosophy

The food at Midsummer House is presented as a series of set course menus. Each menu is a considered sequence of dishes that creates a rhythm to delight, intrigue and excite your palate. Seasonality is always part of every menu, as are the very finest ingredients. Many of the ingredients we use are from wonderful local suppliers, growers and artisan producers and they bring us the very best to work into our dishes.

Our development kitchen is the start of every dish’s journey to the menu. We have our share of high tech equipment and we’re always delighted to illuminate the techniques behind each dish, even if it means explaining what part a centrifuge has played in the intense flavour of a particular dish!

Taste is absolutely central and the clarity of flavour, contrast and blend of texture are seriously sophisticated. The final element of very dish is presentation and Daniel Clifford and the kitchen team always deliver a feast for the eyes.

Wine List

Our Sommelier team have spent lots of time travelling to regions around Europe finding single vineyards to develop our wine list to accompany our food.

We offer a large wine list including by the glass wines and also flights of wines to match the menus at Midsummer House. We can work with all budgets and preferences to source the desired wines tailored to our guests.

We are very proud of our wine cellar and happy to show this off, we would love to offer a wine tour after your meal to show off our pride and joy.
